Privacy Policy
What information Badlaav Social Reform Foundation collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Edited from the team's CMS — the "Last updated" date below is authoritative.
Who we are
Badlaav Social Reform Foundation ("Badlaav", "we", "our", or "us") is a Section 8 non-profit company based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. We work on menstrual health education, community mobilisation, and accessible healthcare across India.
For any privacy-related question or request, write to us at contact@badlaavsrfoundation.org
Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Information you give us directly
- Volunteer / Join Us form: your name, address, email, phone number, role preference, available hours, and a CV you upload.
- Contact / About page form: your name, email, and the message you send.
- Donation enquiries: name, email, phone, and any donor information you choose to share. We do NOT process payment-card data on this website.
- Newsletter signup: the email address you provide.
Information we collect automatically
- Browser storage (localStorage / sessionStorage): we cache content from our CMS so the site loads faster on return visits. These are stored on your own device and never transmitted to us.
- Server logs: when our backend (Google Apps Script) receives a form submission, it records the timestamp and a copy of the submitted fields. We do not collect IP addresses or device identifiers for analytics.
- Third-party scripts: we embed YouTube videos and a Trustindex reviews widget. These services may set their own cookies.
How we use your information
- To respond to volunteer enquiries and arrange interviews.
- To send 80G donation receipts and tax-related communication.
- To send our newsletter, if you've signed up.
- To reply to questions sent via the contact form.
- To improve our programs based on aggregated feedback.
We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.
Where your data lives
We use the following services to operate this website. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Google Apps Script, Google Drive) — content management and form submissions. Data may be processed on Google servers including outside India.
- Firebase Hosting + Firebase Storage — for hosting the site and storing uploaded files such as CVs and PDFs.
- YouTube — for embedded videos. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Trustindex — for the Google reviews widget shown on the home page.
How long we keep it
- Volunteer applications & CVs: up to 2 years after submission, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Donor records: retained for as long as required by Indian tax and FCRA regulations (currently 8 financial years).
- Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form submissions: up to 1 year, unless an ongoing conversation requires longer retention.
Your rights under India's DPDPA
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Withdraw consent and ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements above).
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of incapacity.
- Raise a grievance about how we handle your data.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@badlaav.org with the subject line "Privacy Request — <your name>". We aim to respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Many of our programs serve children and adolescents. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children under 18 through this website. Information about young beneficiaries shared with us offline (through partner schools or community sessions) is handled under separate written consent from a parent or guardian and is not stored on this website.
Security
We use reasonable industry practices — HTTPS for all traffic, access controls on Google Workspace, and limited-scope Firebase Storage rules — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data ever occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India in line with the DPDPA's obligations.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will also be announced in our next newsletter.
