Our Beginning

As our work across communities expanded, one gap became increasingly visible — access to basic healthcare services. While awareness around menstrual and reproductive health was growing, many individuals still lacked access to timely medical support, consultations, and follow-ups. For communities with limited mobility or resources, healthcare often remained out of reach.

To bridge this gap, we introduced Swasthya Sakhi — our Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) — bringing essential healthcare services directly to the communities we work with.

Our Approach

Swasthya Sakhi operates as a community-first, accessible healthcare model, designed to meet people where they are. Through the MMU, we: - Provide on-ground medical consultations within communities - Offer support for menstrual and reproductive health concerns - Enable early identification and referral for health issues - Create a safe and approachable space for individuals to seek help

The model is closely integrated with our Community Mobilisation efforts — where Community Mobilisers play a key role in building awareness, identifying needs, and connecting individuals to the MMU services.

Why It Matters

Access to information alone is not enough — healthcare must be accessible, affordable, and stigma-free. Swasthya Sakhi ensures that communities have regular access to basic healthcare services, individuals can seek support without hesitation or barriers, menstrual and reproductive health concerns are addressed holistically, and awareness is complemented with action and care.
