Community Mobilisation Model
Local educators trained from within each community — trusted Community Mobilisers who carry menstrual health awareness, conversations, and access long after our sessions end.
Our Beginning
In 2022, as our work deepened across communities, we recognised the need for a more sustainable and community-led approach. While our sessions created awareness, we understood that we could not always be physically present. However, the need for continuous access to information, guidance, and support around menstrual and reproductive health remained constant.
This led to the launch of our Community Mobilisation Model — designed to build local leadership and ownership within communities.
Our Approach
At the core of the CM Model is the idea that change is most effective when it comes from within the community. We identify and train one or two individuals from each community to become Community Mobilisers — local menstrual health educators who act as representatives of Badlaav SRF within their communities.
These mobilisers are equipped to: - Conduct sessions on menstrual health and hygiene - Facilitate open conversations around topics often considered taboo - Promote safe, sustainable, and affordable menstrual products - Provide ongoing guidance and support on menstrual and reproductive health
Beyond being educators, Community Mobilisers become trusted points of contact — bridging the gap between information and access, and fostering a sense of comfort and trust within the community.
Why It Matters
This model allows us to ensure continuous access to accurate information, build trust-led engagement within communities, encourage informed and sustainable choices, and create local champions who drive long-term change. By embedding knowledge and leadership within the community, we move from one-time interventions to sustained impact.
Our Reach
The Community Mobilisation Model is currently active across: - 10+ communities in Pune - 2 rural communities in Baramati - An active community in Leh, Ladakh
Through this model, we continue to strengthen grassroots networks and ensure that support systems exist within the community, for the community.
